Classic

Progressing the legacies of movies like Stand by Me and Moonrise Kingdom, Mumbly Peg is a comedic, nostalgic, coming of age story for the entire family. This thematically relative story offers a unique perspective of what masculinity means to boys on the cusp of adulthood.

Remember Middle School?

Mumbly Peg begins just mere moments after a pre-teen’s socially embarrassing, physically painful event. With a bandage across his face, Allan is then told by his grandfather that he’s being sent to a camp for inner-city kids, in the hopes of changing his perspective.

Auto-biographical

The inspiration for the project began with Mark Lesser's 1976 experience at a sleep-away camp for inner-city kids. Unbeknownst to this nerdy suburban, thirteen-year-old, Mark was put on a bus, alone, headed for Chicago's south side. It made a brief stop to pick up kids, then traveled seven hours to northern Michigan. This was a complete fish out of water, coming of age experience set to its own musical soundtrack of a generation.
